WE ARE BUILDING A GLOBAL, STRUCTURED HIGH QUALITY STEREOSCOPIC 360 UNDERWATER VIDEO DATABASE OF ALL NOTEWORTHY OCEAN SITES, MARINE LIFE AND OCEAN EVENTS AND CREATING THE TECHNOLOGY TO RENDER OUR XR CONTENT INTO AMAZING EXPERIENCES
Submerged Realities specializes in the production of high quality underwater extended reality content. This is the only thing we do, and we do it very well. All content we create is 8K 360° stereoscopic. Stereoscopic content means, there is a different image per eye, which creates a perception of depth. This is of great importance for a sense of realism in an immersive experience, or headset viewing. The underwater world is a most fitting subject, as some marine life tends to get curious and up close and personal.
WHY IS XR SO FITTING FOR UNDERWATER
“Don't use VR for everything. Save it for things that, if you were to do an experience in the real world, it would hit one of four standards and I'll go over each of them. Impossible. Dangerous. Counterproductive, or Rare and Expensive.” Jeremy Bailenson
Underwater is a 3 dimensional environment
Only 0.0025% of people have ever experienced it first hand
There is an abundance of amazing natural subjects
Everything looks more interesting underwater
The experiences we create are Impossible. Dangerous. Counterproductive. Rare and Expensive

UNDERWATER XR EXPERIENCE CREATION
UW PRODUCTION PLANNING
Planning to create Underwater VR content is a delicate thing. There are many variables at play. It is more complex than classic underwater content creation projects, this because of the equipment needed, the working environment, but also the nature of the final product.
UW POST PRODUCTION
We have a tried and tested VR post production pipeline, specifically optimized for underwater VR content creation. Our team processes the content in our studio from the raw material into final product delivery.
We know what works and what doesn’t work in Underwater VR content creation. We have created a production formula, based on years of optimization and trial and error.
CATALOG BASED CONTENT
Underwater experience creation based on existing content sourced from 3rd parties or our own existing library. The specifics of color-grading underwater VR content is a challenge, which our existing post production pipeline has solved.
CONTENT LICENSING
We currently have a couple of thousand high quality clips, shot all over the world with various marine animals such as sharks, dolphins, turtles, rays, etc., shot on various such as reefs, deep sites, wrecks, artificial reefs and open oceans. Please contact us for more information on licensing our content. info@submergedrealities.com
DIVE RESORT / CENTER PARTNERSHIP
We have a special partnership proposal for dive shops and dive resorts
Virtual reality is an excellent medium for promoting dive courses and your dive location.
Most of people who experience our work say the same thing: “I really want to learn not dive” or “I need to go back diving”.
THE IMPACT OF VIRTUAL REALITY
You have 100% of someone's true, undivided and undistracted attention
The technology allows us to create a simulated experience that can be similar to or completely different from the real world. It captures the state of presence. Presence is a state where the brain treats something as real. We should think of VR not as a media experience but closer to an actual experience.
VR enhances absorption, referred to as a deep state of involvement characterized by feelings of temporal dissociation and focused immersion (Agarwal and Karahanna 2000)
Absorption is a distinct cognitive style of “total” attention that fully engages one's representational (i.e., perceptual, enactive, imaginative, and ideational) resources and amplifies one aspect of reality over others (Tellegen and Atkinson 1974)
Imagine having 100% of your targets audiences attention, while communicating your message.
VR can be considered as the leading edge of a general evolution of present communication interfaces. The main characteristic is the full immersion of the human sensorimotor channels into a vivid and global communication experience (Biocca & Delaney).
VR for relaxation and mindfulness helps reduce anxiety, as individuals are immersed in peaceful, stress-reducing environments.
When going scuba diving, your perception of time becomes a different thing. Your environment speeds up and slows down at the same time. Your sense of time becomes altered.
Virtual reality induces a phenomenon called “time compression.”
A study has shown that the subjects exposed to a VR environment spent 28.5% more time than they realized in virtual reality, compared to conventional formats.
While learning retention is only 5% for lectures and 10% for reading, we find VR among the top 2 with a learning retention of 75%. VR training is only beaten by learning that happens through teaching others, where the learning retention is at 90%.
“Learning is an experience. Everything else is just information”
Albert Einstein
The critical element in immersive entertainment is invoking a sense of presence. This can be achieved by attaining a high level of real world sensory fidelity. The content we create is filmed in such high quality that our brain is tricked into believing that you are actually there.
The first characteristic of a satisfying virtual environment is the disappearance of mediation, a level of experience where both the VR system and the physical environment disappear from the user's phenomenal awareness
Being transported from your home to the most beautiful reefs around the world, experiencing the best of thousands of dives is a priceless thing.
A study has revealed that virtual reality boosts brain activity that may be crucial for learning. Scientists found that VR environments altered different electrical rhythms present in different parts of brain neurons. “Two different parts of the neuron are going in their own rhythm.” More interestingly, this new never before seen brain rhythm (which the scientists dubbed “ETA”) was strengthened in the virtual reality environment. All this indicates that scientists may be able to manipulate human brain rhythms in VR, not only to boost learning, but also treat memory-related disorders including Alzheimer’s, ADHD, depression, Post-traumatic Stress Disorders (PTSD), Anxiety Disorders, Specific Phobia, Schizophrenia, Autism, Dementia and Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), epilepsy, and Stress and Pain Alleviation and more.
